Description Collaboration between the municipalities, that are in charge of elaborating the master plan and the province that has to approve the plan
Major objectives Guidelines for the elaboration of the masterplan of the municipalities for the for future programming of the fiber access network
Short Summary The objective is that every municipality in South Tyrol elaborates a plan for the implementation of the broad band access. For this the Province has set up guidelines for the masterplan to implement the optical fiber network.
To plan the optical fiber network, the existing users, have to be categorized (public, industrial, tourism, businesses, private and telecommunication structures) and listed. Furthermore, the existing network of broadband network has to be inquired.
To design the network of fiber access must be pointed utilities in the area, dividing them by type, so as to define in detail what the needs of connection. Le utilities to be connected can be divided into the following types:
a) public bodies (municipality, health district, schools, kindergartens, public offices, offices of the fire brigade, civil defense offices, libraries, etc.).
b) productive areas;
c) public venues (hotels);
d) companies (artisans, offices, design studios);
e) private homes;
f) telecommunication facilities (telephone exchanges, pylons).
For the structure and the functioning of the network the division points (POP) have to be defined so that the optical fiber can be laid from the main point to the user.
For the development of the masterplan it is essential to collect information on the existing infrastructure network as it is possible to use existing pipelines if they have the specific requirements (extent, position, empty, owner of the infrastructure). This information has to be transferred into GIS. Equally this has to be done for the optical fiber network.
The masterplan has to contain all relevant information on existing infrastructure and pipelines, moreover it has to contain a technical report, timeline of implementation, estimated costs. Of the single municipalities the documents will be accessible on the provided webpage.
