Short Summary This candidacy has been elaborated thanks to the coordination between local authorities, socio-professional actors, local organizations and inhabitants.
The main challenges for local development are:
- Enhancing touristic assets of Grand Verdon
- Supporting micro-enterprises
- Developing “mixed uses”, solidarity and local links in order to accompany the social and economical changes of the territory
- Enhancing natural heritage and natural resources, as a support for a sustainable and shared economy
- Strengthening cooperation with the neighboring territories to enhance urban/rural relationships.

The Verdon has to face difficulties related to the “hyper” rurality of the territory., i.e. the isolation, the lack of an urban center and the very low population density, to draw up a new development plan based on a “living well together” and a sustainable enhancement of resources, while opening up the territory to the world.
Therefore, the strategy of the Verdon new LEADER program is untitled: “The Verdon reinvents its rurality: Enhancing the economic, social and ecological transition of the territory”
It aims to:
- Develop the solidarity between the different territories
- Foster its attractiveness and international recognition
- Face the current ecological and economical challenges
- Rely on its long experiment of territorial projects
